Technically they can be as most of their volume is gaseous. However you compress a cloud it will warm adiabatically, and with enough heating from compression the cloud will evaporate.

Why do clouds disappear with high air pressure?

In a high pressure system air sinks and is compressed. As the air is compressed it heats up, which can cause clouds to evaporate.

Is the pressure of the clouds being compressed and heated which cause the lightning?

No. It is the buildup of static electricity in the clouds, caused by the motion of the air within the clouds.

What causes the heat to grow in a proto-star?

Compression. Whenever anything is compressed, it heats up. In a proto-star, clouds of hydrogen gas are compressed by gravitational attraction, and the compression heats the gas.

Where does pressure come from?

It doesn't really come from anywhere. High pressure can form anywhere when air from aloft converges aloft and then is pushed downwards, compressed, and warmed. The air then divereges at ground level. Usually the air that has been compressed and warmed doesn't have any clouds because in the process of being warmed, clouds dissipate from the compressional warming. Hope this helped!
