i am in norther bc Canada working as a utility welder, it is my first year because im just an apprentace. but i have heard it can be pretty cold and as long as we can pre heat something we can weld it so we can be working in like -20 and that gets pretty cold, cuz if its colder we wont have to work. but most welding jobs are in a shop where its warm and when you welding it warms you up pretty good anyways. just try to move around alot and youll stay nice and toasty.

To calculate the current you need to take theWatt rating of your welder and divide this by the voltage youhave setthe machine at- this gives the amperage. So for a 1440 watt welder running at 12v the current would be: 1440 watt/ 12v = 120 Amps
SP welder means Structural purpose welder.
According to my research in order to become a Welder you will need to take a test to receive your Welder's certificate. Once you get the certificate you can apply for jobs.
