Weak acid dissociation reactions do not go to completion, while strong acid dissociation reactions effectively do. Weak acids have a larger value of pKa than strong acids.

The main similarity between strong and weak acids is that they both produce hydronium ions when in water, i.e. H3O+. As a result of this, they both will lower the pH of an aqueous solution.
