An example of such a force is friction, but a term for forces that act against motion are decelerative forces.

Newton's Third Law states that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. However, these can be in any direction and may or may not influence an object in motion.

The opposite of motion is motion in the opposite direction e.g. if you push an object to the left the opposite would be pushing force applied to the right
